January 27, 2009BMI’s Atlanta office is currently accepting submissions for the annual Unsigned Urban Showcase, slated for April 23, 2009, in Atlanta. Aspiring artists from all urban genres including r&b, rap, and hip-hop are encouraged to vie for this opportunity to compete in front of a panel of the music industry’s top talent-spotters including executives, artists, producers, managers, and attorneys. The showcase winner will receive a jaw-dropping array of prizes not unlike the 2008 package which included studio time, a trip to the BMI Urban Awards, a photo shoot, and much more.
After the four finalists perform, urban music heavy hitters will close the show. Last year, the Unsigned Urban Showcase artists performed on the same bill as headliners Teyana Taylor, Sean Garrett, and cross-genre superstar Lil Wayne.
All submission packages must include a bio, photo, two-song demo (CDs only, please), day and evening contact information, and BMI account number to verify the submitter’s affiliation with BMI. Only BMI affiliates will be considered. Submitted materials will not be returned, and only those selected to compete will be contacted.
The deadline for submission is Friday, March 20, 2009.
